Hello,

Yesterday was a first evening of Chinese New Year in Auckland, so we went to see the show in Northcote, as we usually do once a year. It was my chance to put on a woolen vest on in the middle of summer. As it was evening – from 7.00pm to 10.00 pm – the vest was just the right choice. It was not hot in the car or at the start of the show, and it was not cold after sunset. Merino is really grait fibre – very “body-friendly”.

In fact I liked it so much that I decided to make one vest for my brother who leaves in Russia and will appreciate a warm and light vest for everyday use and for going hunting. And even more umbitious plan is to make a winter felted coat for myself. As the winters are really mild in Auckland, I can make one of almost the same thickness as the mentioned vest of mine, and even without a lining. I just need to concentrate and have some good undevided periods of time about 3-4 hours at a stretch, also some good design. When I was looking on Etsy I found the artist who makes the coats I like: Olga Babenko @ ChicComplement, here is a link:

I hope to be able to make warm things like the ones she makes.

All for now,

Louisa
